Here's an overview and info for getting your Delaware drivers license and registering your vechicles. We've also included statewide locations

You have within 60 days to apply for and receive your license.if you have a valid drivers license from another state.

The Division of Motor Vechicles suggests you obtain the state drivers manual to review the traffic laws of Delaware. We can email this to you as an Acrobat PDF file if you wish, no charge of course.

You must apply in person at one of the three offices in the state, and we've listed the addresses below. You can also register to vote and become an organ donor at the same time if you wish.

PROOF OF RESIDENCY
You'll need to bring and show TWO separate proofs of residency AND proof of your social security number.
A Rent receipt or copy of lease, or utility bills with your address and name on it, such as telephone or gas will do.

You'll also have to pass an eye exam the day you apply in person and, of course, give up your former license, so don't forget to bring that as well.

Active members in the military and their dependents are not required to acquire Delaware driver licenses and vehicle registrations, but upon separation from the service you have the same 60 days as stated above.

FEE
The fee is $12.50 as of this writing and lasts five years.

DMV Offices
You can obtain your license, vechicle registration and vechicle inspections all at the same one-stop location at any of the offices listed below. The hours are normally Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm except for Wednesdays, which is 12 noon to 8:00 pm.
